Great to see the Labour led resolution succeed in getting SMDC to declare a climate emergency. Biddulph and Leek Town Councils have also passed similar resolutions.
Labour councillors, both District and Town, are working with The Staffordshire Moorlands Climate Action Group. The group meets at The Roebuck, Derby St. in Leek. Go to their FB site for more detail.
Labour fully supported the motions of no confidence in the North Staffs Clinical Commissioning group, following it being rated as ‘inadequate’. Motions put to SMDC and Leek Town Council were supported overwhelmingly across all parties, as well as independants.
There have been significant changes in officers over the past few months. Charlotte Atkins has taken over as Chair of the CLP, and Jo Darrant has kindly stepped into the secretary’s role as Jocelyn recovers from a serious illness. In Leek Phil Barks has stepped up into the membership secretary role, and Andy Kidd is helping out with branch secretary duties. Leek’s vice chair, Sue Webster, has chaired the last couple of branch meetings in Leek, helping out Paul Powner.
A new post has been created at CLP level, that of Membership Services Officer, Designed to support and coordinate activities at branch level, it is being discussed throughout the CLP. Hopefully the post will be filled by the end of September.
