Some really useful comments from Bill Cawley, who’s a Labour District Councillor in Leek West.
Bill says –
The 10 months I have been a Councillor in Leek I have enjoyed . I have particularly enjoyed working closely with my Labour colleagues . We have worked very well as a team . We are driven solely by wanting to provide a responsive service to the people of the Moorlands and also to hold the controlling group to account which we have done . I would regard myself as a pragmatist . I would say the same for my colleagues . We are progressive in outlook . I just say this because the dominance of reporting on the break away 7 MPs paints a picture of the Labour Party I do not recognise. I do not deny their experience but I question whether it is endemic within the Labour Party. I am sure the reality of the majority of Labour Party activists owes more to my experience up and down the country of working within their own communities than to the picture painted by the press.
